Bark for the Arts
A Celebration of
Community

How did Bark for the Arts come about?
In May 2007 children in our little Vermont town had a problem...due to budget cuts there were no longer any funds available for their summer art camp. The art teacher solicited local businesses and the Rotary for money. Without support from outside sources, the camp would be cancelled.

The staff at The Paw House Inn saw this dilemma as a major opportunity. We would unite dog lovers and aspiring artists in a common bond...together we would figure out a way to fund this art camp!

With the support of our dog loving guests throughout North America, we rallied around the cause. We solicited donations in exchange for personalized artwork done by the students themselves. Within one week enough money was raised to pay for the art camp. Dog lovers were rewarded with a special, "personalized" work of art, and young students gained the satisfaction of contributing to the efforts to pay for their summer activity.

Given the feedback and the personal joy we received from giving, we decided to expand upon the initial idea. We grew Bark for the Arts to encompass not only funding for a single art camp, but also to raise money and awareness for many art programs for children and any number of dog centric causes.

For more information about the creation of our program, please refer to this beautiful article in our regional newspaper that featured the first great success of our program.

What is the process?
It is VERY EASY!!!
1. You make a donation
2. You will be prompted to send us a photo of your dog (electronically or via US mail)
3 . An art student (age 5-16) will create a magnificent, one-of-a-kind piece of art (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc) featuring YOUR DOG. See examples throughout this site.
4 . You receive the artwork in the mail and have a cherished keepsake that memorializes your dog forever.

Where does my donation go?
As a company, our goal is to partner with prominent businesses to pay for our overhead expenses so that a MINIMUM of 90% of the gross proceeds fund art programs for children and dog-centric charities.

How is the money distributed?

Net proceeds are distributed as follows:
1/3 is given to the programs that render the artwork
1/3 is given as scholarships or to programs of any kind designed to advance art education to children up to age 16
1/3 is donated to dog-centric charities

In addition to making a donation, how can I help?
