We have dispelled all notions that a dog friendly hotel should be second rate.  Each of our immaculate, first class, dog themed accommodations are lovingly designed for maximum privacy and, yes...human comfort too. 

Human and Creature Features

  • Accommodations for 1-4 humans and up to 3 dogs (if you have more than 3 dogs, please contact us prior to making a reservation and we will do our best to accommodate you.)

  • All the requisite e-menities including high speed internet

  • Individual climate control (heat in winter, cooling in summer)

  • Smart TVs with Roku for custom channel viewing

  • Easy access to our beautiful grounds with picnic tables, picturesque views, flower gardens, and covered porches

  • Either an electric fireplace or stove for added warmth and ambience

  • Several accommodations can sleep up to four humans

  • Even though we cater to dogs, all of our guest accommodations are mindfully designed and cleaned to the highest standards to provide a hypo-allergenic setting upon your arrival

Additionally, Our Nightly Rates Include:

  • Unlimited use of our on-site dog facility, day or night

  • Easy access to a doggie cleaning station with dog towels

  • Unlimited access to our fenced in dog park with toys and agility course

  • A full country breakfast for guests within the inn (breakfast is included for cottage guests for the first morning and then available for a small charge each additional morning)

  • Easy access to a guest kitchenette with a refrigerator, dishes, utensils, wine glasses, a prep area, a microwave, and pretty much anything you might need to prepare a simple lunch, dinner, or snack for yourself or your dog(s).  Some rooms have a microwave and fridge/freezer. Both cottages are equipped with a full kitchen and private grill.

Our Dog Friendly Country Cottages

Welcome to our our custom built dog friendly digs - Brooklyn's Bungalow and The Koko Kabana - the highest level of comfort within a dog friendly cottage

Both stand-alone cottages feature cathedral ceilings, oversized windows for an expansive view of Vermont's landscape, king accommodations, a cozy sitting area, trundle dog beds to maximize both space and comfort, a kitchenette with cooking space. private porch with a bistro set and grill, an electric fireplace, flat screen tv, and a well-apportioned bathroom.

Koko's Kabana features a fabulous open floor plan for families while Brooklyn's Bungalow is designed as a romantic couple's retreat but can also accommodate families.  Rates for both cottages are for up to four humans and two dogs.  Breakfast is available in our inn's dining room on your first morning and with advance reservations for just $15 each morning thereafter.    Additional humans and dogs are welcome for just $25 per for each night.

Throughout the years we made many additions, upgrades, and improvements to allow for maximum privacy, additional in-room services, and ease of entry/exit from each room and suite.

Shakespeare's Retreat Suite

​

This spacious two-room suite was the original master bedroom built by Elijah Smith in 1786.  The room contains many special architectural nuances including the old barn doors, high ceilings, wide-planked hardwood floors, and multiple windows that offer spectacular views to the north, east, and westerly landscapes.

​

Shakespeare's Retreat features a handsome, queen-sized, four-poster, mahogany bed and a separate sitting room outfitted with a comfy day bed.  The suite is ideal for reading, relaxing and peaceful pondering.  It can also comfortably accommodate a third guest.  A bistro set has also been added to the suite to accommodate in room dining.

The Bad Dog! Room

​

To be sure, the name of this room is all in fun. There is no such thing as a bad dog.  In the Bad Dog! Room sunlight shines through two, oversized windows and bathes the regal, king-sized, four-poster, cherry-wood bed.  Daydream and relax in the sunlight, surrounded by high ceilings, wide-planked hardwood floors, ornate hand-stenciled border and beautiful pastoral views.  

​

After a day of play in the Vermont countryside, sleeping on an incredibly comfortable, king-size, pillow-top mattress, outfitted with luxury bedding, will surely be a highlight of your vacation.  While your dog will certainly rest-easy in our custom-built dog bed, strategically placed to capture the morning sun.

 

Room tips:  sleeps two;  California king; upstairs room; ample floor space; overlooks lilac trees;  private bathroom offers full tub.  Easy entrance/exit via both the front and back.

This bright, cheerful corner room features spectacular views to the south and west and warm sunlight throughout most of the day.  Curl up in an easy chair and enjoy a good book or simply gaze out the window at the two-hundred-year-old lilac trees and magnificent meadow.

Good Dog features an ornate, antique, rosewood, queen-sized bed furnished with a down duvet, luxury sheets and pillow-top mattress.  All of which, will ensure that you sleep soundly, like Good Dogs do!

​

Room tips: sleeps two; upstairs room; extra large bathroom, with full tub; beautiful views, especially in the spring when the lilacs are in bloom.  Easy entrance/exit to front and back yard.

The Chase!

Our brand new two story suite is a most ideal setup for families.  As a result of the Coronavirus, our large living room has been converted into a stunning private space with picture windows, electric fireplace, multiple sleeping arrangements for a slumber party, private dining area, and large screen TV and the coolest wallpaper you will ever see.  (Photo coming soon!)  But don't wait.  Book it now!

 

The second floor of The Chase features the main bedroom (pictured above) with breathtaking views of Vermont's Taconic Ridge, our north meadow, and Paw House Park.  A one-time hayloft, this room offers plenty of space for you, your family, and especially your canine companions to comfortably spread out and relax.  

Room tips: sleeps four; queen futon and king bed; very private room with a semi-steep staircase; if you or your dog has a problem with stairs, please select another room.  *Please note that the full bathroom in The Chase is on the second floor.

Stanley's Studio

This cozy first-floor room has been renamed in loving memory of our beloved Stanley. 

​

The room features a custom built king bed outfitted with a pillow-top mattress, down duvet and luxury bedding.  The perfect place to rest your head after a day of enjoying adventures with your own canine hero.

​

Room tips: sleeps two; downstairs room near the side entrance, perfect for older, less mobile dogs or puppies who need to take a quick potty break.

Why the name Stanley's Studio

Completely redone in April 2020 this warm, inviting first-floor suite now offers its own private sitting room with private dining and additional creature comforts along with a brand new queen bed that was built by Mitch!  Wide-planked hardwood floors, high ceilings and peaceful views of the backyard meadow and treed hilltops give you suite the ultimate feel of farmhouse privacy, escape and luxury.  Enjoy the picturesque scene of our backyard, where on some mornings you may spy bunnies, deer or even an occasional moose parading through the country setting. (Don't get your hopes up too high about the moose - we've had only one in our years here - it is more of a marketing gimmick than a reality - but hey you never know!)

This spacious, bright and cheerful room features its own privacy porch and comfy swing... a perfect SPOT to enjoy the evening breezes of each Vermont season.  In the spring, summer and fall, enjoy the peace of the adjacent wildflower garden, lilac trees and foliage.

An antique country queen bed accentuates the warmth and comfort of this guest room and the sofa makes the Spot a most comfortable accommodation for those who enjoy space.

The Bark Avenue Suite

​

Even professional photos cannot begin to capture the beauty and comfort of this oversized suite.  Rustic, charming, comfortable and cheerful, Bark Ave is the largest room in the inn.  It features its own private entrance, living room area, private fridge and bright romantic bedroom with a California king sleigh bed and built in country queen bed/day sofa in the living room. 

​

Your private porch provides a perfect place for a quiet romantic dinner or relaxing picnic, with views extending from Paw House Park to the tree line of our backyard.  Bark Ave is also ideal for families. 

​
