The splendor of our country setting is matched by the wonderful and wide range of dining choices all offered within a short driving distance from The Paw House Inn. 

 

Reservations are suggested for most establishments, particularly during the holidays. Please tell them that The Paw House sent you.

In no particular order, here are some of our favorites including a brief description of each and links.

Roots* - This special chef-owned farm-to-table is a "must-do" when in Vermont. With an intimate yet vibrant setting, creative menu, and friendly service, Roots uses mostly local products to render an exciting experience. Brix Bistro and Wine Bar* – 802-776-6145 Eclectic food and drink menu in a charming, romantic atmosphere. 118 Merchants Row, Rutland.  Just 10 minutes from the inn. Ask for Pete when making the reservation.

Taco Fresco* - (802) 855-8004  - Fun and tasty taqueria & tequila bar that brings a little spice to our charming town!  Right in the heart of downtown Rutland.

Sweet Caroline's - A wonderful charming restaurant owned and operated by our great friend Donnie who specializes in local foods, prime rib, fresh seafood a friendly bar with wide ranging selections and many smiles.  Portions are quite generous, so bring your appetite. 802-438-5696. Make no mistake about it.  Vermont may be landlocked, however the sushi options are FANTASTIC
Tokyo House 802-786-8080  – Downtown Rutland.  Casual dine in or easy take out.  

Sushi Yoshi – 1807 Killington Road,  Killington – Not just sushi – this place offers Japanese and Chinese cuisine and hibachi too.  One of our personal faves...A perfect spot for a special night out.  

Masala Corner - 98 Merchants Row, Rutland.  The Dholakia family has brought the taste and heritage of Indian food to our town.  A special family and wonderful dinging experience. 

The Rivershed 802-683-2151 747 Killington Road, Killington.  Another of our faves – the Rivershed is inspored by a love for food, music and culture of Nashville, TN.  Menu offers a tasteful and fun range of tacos, burgers, barbeque, and local craft beers.  Very casual with a nice touch of class.

Countryman’s Pleasure - Chef Hans has created one of the most special treasures in all of New England. Bavarian fare complete with the touches of passion all served in a post and beam style house with multiple rooms and hearth-side seating.  Countryman's Pleasure is a can’t miss.  802-773-7141 (Dinner; open days vary; Mendon 15 minutes)

Inn at Long Trail (that's long TRAIL, not long tail) - Rustic, beautiful setting, fantastic Irish food! Pub has live music on Fri and Sat. Pub open daily 12-8; Rosemary's Restaurant dinner on Friday/Saturday. 802-775-7181 (Dinner; Killington 20 minutes)
 

Taso on Center (802) 775-8276 Eclectic food • Craft Beer • Cocktails • Open for Dine in & Takeout Thurs-Sat, 4:30-8:00pm.  Center Street, Rutland.

Yellow Deli* -  everything in this quaint restaurant has been built by hand...the tables, lamps, hearth, ceiling, etc  The restaurant features an amazing wholesome menu with 2 specials daily.  802-775-9800 (Breakfast; Lunch and Dinner; closed Fridays/Saturdays; Rutland 10 minutes) Yellow Deli is closed from the end of September until the second week of October.

Victorian Inn - Let internationally trained Chef Stanti prepare you top-notch Swiss-American cuisine while Soo welcomes you into her beautiful Victorian home. Fantastic setting for a romantic dinner.  802-446-2099 (Dinner; closed Sunday/Monday; Wallingford 15 minutes)

 

Hop n' Moose* - As Rutland's first brewpub, Hop'n Moose prides themselves on three things: unique hand crafted ales and lagers,  amazing wood fired pizzas, and family (including dogs!) friendly environment.  802-775-7063 (Dinner, lunch weekends, closed Mondays/Tuesdays; Rutland 10 minutes) 

 

Café Provence* - Chef Robert started the Cafe Provence in 2004 after running the New England Culinary Institute for 16 years. Now his first rate eclectic restaurant has become a landmark in Central Vermont.  He and his experienced chefs offer a varied menu featuring ultra-fresh ingredients gathered from local purveyors of meat, cheeses, fruits and vegetables produced right here in Vermont. 802-247-9997   (closed Monday/Tuesday; Lunch and Dinner; Brandon 25 minutes - but well worth the ride)  

 

The Southside Steakhouse -  Rutland's modern steakhouse with other diverse offerings a classic bar with extensive wine list.

Lake House Pub and Grill* - A guest favorite in the summertime, The Lake House serves lunch and dinner on their deck overlooking Lake Bomoseen.  On weekend evenings there is live music.  802-273-3000  (closed Mondays/Tuesdays; Bomoseen 15 minutes)

The Taproom at Lake Bomoseen - Another guest fav in the summertime featuring excellent beer selection, a spacious dog friendly outdoor patio overlooking beautiful Lake Bomoseen, great food menu, and live music most evenings.   (15 minutes) 802.468.5251

The Cluckin' Cafe & Culinary Institute* - eclectic, comfort food  with a vermont twist. Open Mondays! 802-725-8041 (closed Sundays/Tuesdays; Pittsford 15 minutes)

 

The Maple Angus (Snackbar)* - Fun little outdoor dog friendly restaurant - seasonally - (Lunch and dinner; Rutland 5 minutes) 
 

Middlebury's exceedingly cool dog friendly  Drop in Brewery makes for a wonderful day trip! 802-989-7414.
